Fulda with second win of the season to start the second half of the season
Both TTC Rhönsprudel Fulda-Maberzell and TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt started the second half of the season in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) with a tailwind. While Bergneustadt broke a small streak on match day 12, Fulda had a successful debut.
TTC Rhönsprudel Fulda-Maberzell celebrated its first victory in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) on the last matchday of the first half of the season. TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt even managed to complete the first half of the season with a small run of three successive victories. Both teams wanted to take this momentum into the second half of the season. However, Bergneustadt's streak was snapped in the direct clash between the two teams. The Swallows lost to Fulda 1:3.
Hesse, on the other hand, celebrated the successful return of Chih-Yuan Chuang. The Taiwanese player initially lost to Benedikt Duda in three sets but was able to secure the overall victory in the second singles match. He equalised two set deficits against Romain Ruiz before clearly winning the fifth set 11:4 and securing two important points for his team in the relegation battle.
Bergneustadt on the road to victory - Fanbo Meng turns things around
Things initially looked promising for Bergneustadt. After Duda had taken the lead, Romain Ruiz was already 2:0 up against Fanbo Meng before he let the game slip out of his hands. Meng showed a strong fighting performance. He not only cancelled out a 0:2 set deficit, but also fended off five match points in the deciding set to turn the match around for Fulda.
Ruwen Filus won the third point against Adrien Rassenfosse. The second set was decisive, in which the German defender turned a 3:8 deficit into a 14:12 lead to take a 2:0 lead. Although he showed a brief phase of weakness in the third set and lost it by a clear margin of 4:11, Filus did not let anything get in his way in the fourth, quickly taking a 6:2 lead and putting his team 2:1 ahead a little later, before Chuang was allowed to complete the victory.
The 12th matchday will be concluded next weekend. On Friday, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen will host Post SV Mühlhausen, before 1. FC Saarbrücken TT play host to 1. FSV Mainz 05 one day later.
All TTBL matches will be broadcast live on Dyn.
