Former runner-up Ort fears for his career

The former national player has been suffering from the consequences of a herniated disc for almost two years.

Former national team player Kilian Ort from table tennis Bundesliga club TSV Königshofen is worried about continuing his career due to a herniated disc. “I've hardly played any table tennis in the last 20 months. I can't say that I'll be playing again in two months. That would be a denial of reality,” said the 28-year-old in an interview with the Main-Post newspaper: ”I can't rule out anything in a positive or negative sense.”

Ort has been struggling with various injuries for years. This is one of the reasons why the former runner-up did not make any further appearances for the national team after his international debut around nine years ago. The player from Lower Franconia played his last match for his home club in Bad Königshofen in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) almost two years ago at the end of April 2023 at the end of the season.

However, Ort is clearly not holding out too much hope of a comeback: “I've already had two operations - unfortunately without any improvement. With my shoulder injury in 2015, it got better again after a while. I don't have that feeling with my current injury in the last two years.”
