Final Four already sold out: Around 5000 fans will come to the title showdown on Sunday
With the Final Four, the first table tennis highlight of the year is coming up - and in front of a full house! The Liebherr Cup Final for the German Table Tennis Cup is already sold out. The organizing Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) can look forward to around 5,000 fans in the ratiopharm arena Ulm/Neu-Ulm on Sunday.
The Liebherr Pokal final is rushing from record to record: A new record was already set in 2020 with 4,600 spectators, followed by two events without the presence of fans due to the pandemic. In the new year, the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) can now already look forward to a new record a few days before the title showdown. 5000 spectators will be present in the ratiopharm arena Ulm/Neu-Ulm next Sunday, January 8, to experience world-class table tennis and, of course, to ensure a title-ready atmosphere. The Final Four is thus sold out; remaining tickets are available at best via returns and, if necessary, in the online ticket store of the TTBL.The Liebherr Cup Final hurries from record to record: Already in 2020, with 4600 spectators, a new record was set, followed by two events without the presence of fans due to the pandemic. "After two years without fans in the arena, it is first and foremost simply good that spectators will be there again. We are already looking forward to the tingling and the very special atmosphere," says Nico Stehle, Managing Director of the organizing Tischtennis Bundesliga GmbH. Since this is an all-day event - the semifinals start at 11 a.m., followed directly by the grand final - the standing blocks in the ratiopharm arena will not be used, so only the seats have gone on sale. "The fact that the spectator response continues to be so great makes me immensely happy and speaks not only for the great interest in table tennis, but also for the quality of the event," adds Nico Stehle. "Many thanks to all fans, but also to all sponsors, helpers and supporters!"
All games live on Spontent on Twitch and the highlights on the public TV channels and on SPORT1.
But of course, not only the spectators in the ratiopharm arena can join in the excitement on Sunday. All three games of the day will be broadcast live and in full length on Spontent on Twitch. Afterwards, there will also be various highlight formats: Among others, reports are planned on Sunday evening in the ZDF-sportstudio-reportage (from 5.10 p.m.) and the ARD-Sportschau (from 7.15 p.m.). In addition, Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) will report on the event in a 30-minute special broadcast (starting at 6:45 p.m.) and SWR in its news formats. A detailed 60-minute summary can also be seen on Monday from 7 p.m. on SPORT1.
In the Final Four, there will be a rematch of last year's final in the semifinals on Sunday: record cup winner Borussia Düsseldorf with superstar Timo Boll will challenge defending champion 1. FC Saarbrücken TT. At the other table, two local heroes will fight for a place in the final: TTC Neu-Ulm with Olympic bronze medal winner Dimitrj Ovtcharov will meet TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen. After a short changeover break, the grand final will finally take place and it will be decided which team can celebrate the first title of the season.
