European Championship: 23 TTBL players are in the round of 16 with their countries
On September 10, the European Team Championships 2023 started in Malmö (Sweden). Among them were also some TTBL players, 23 of whom are now also in the round of 16 with their countries.
After in July at the European Games in Krakow (Poland) Germany stood against Sweden with TTBL players in the final, the chance is also very high at the European Team Championships in Malmö that at least one TTBL player will become European champion with his country. The favorite roles are clearly assigned to Sweden, France and Germany, in whose teams with Anton Källberg (Sweden), Mattias Falck (Sweden), Simon Gauzy (France), Can Akkuzu (France), Timo Boll (Germany), Benedikt Duda (Germany), Ricardo Walther (Germany), Kay Stumper (Germany) and Cedric Meissner (Germany) a large contingent of TTBL players can be found.
Germany vs. Ukraine - Both the men's and the women's teams
First and foremost, Germany's team around table tennis legend Timo Boll is also in the round of 16. Their opponent is the Ukrainian team around their top player Yaroslav Zhmudenko.
In the women's competition, the German team around Han Ying, Nina Mittelham, Xiaona Shan, Annett Kaufmann and Sabine Winter is also in the round of 16 and will face Ukraine there as well.
France vs. Slovenia and Poland vs. Belgium - TTBL players against each other
Especially in the matches France vs. Slovenia and Poland vs. Belgium there will be a clash of some Bundesliga professionals. On the French side there are two Ochsenhausen players, Gauzy and Akkuzu, who will meet Jorgic (Saarbrücken), Kozul and Godec (both Grünwettersbach) against Slovenia.
In the match Poland vs. Belgium there will be a duel between Kubik (Grenzau), Kulczycki (Ochsenhausen) and Rassenfosse (Bergneustadt), Nuytinck (Saarbrücken) and Allegro (Bad Königshofen).
We are looking forward to the matches and are curious to see which player will return to the Bundesliga with the European Championship title.
