Europe Cup: Neu-Ulm loses to Wiener Neustadt
After sovereign performances in the group phase of the Europe Cup, TTC Neu-Ulm is threatened with elimination in round three.
On Thursday, the Swabians lost at Solex-Consult Wiener Neustadt and go into the second leg on Friday with a 1-3 deficit. While TTC Neu-Ulm is on target in the Table Tennis Champions League (TTCLM), the Europe Cup team has to fear for the next round. In the first leg of the third round, the Swabians lost 1:3 at Solex-Consult Wiener Neustadt on Thursday evening. The return match will take place tomorrow, Friday, November 18, starting at 6:30 p.m. and again in Vienna.
Maksim Grebnev, who was nominated for the first position, scored the only TTC point of the evening. With a 3:1 (11:2, 11:6, 10:12, 11:4) win over Ivor Ban, the 20-year-old made the score 1-1 in the meantime. The first match had gone to the Austrians, Felix Wetzel beat Vladimir Sidorenko 3:1 (11:9, 11:7, 10:12, 11:9). And also the decisive point went to Wetzel's account, whose 3:1 (11:8, 11:7, 8:11, 14:12) against Grebnev put the final point under the match and the Neu-Ulm 1:3 defeat. On position three Lev Katsman lost 0:3 (5:11, 9:11, 10:12) against Frane Tomislav Kojic.
