Europe Cup: Grünwettersbach with successful start

With the first-time participation in the Europe Cup of the ETTU, ASV Grünwettersbach has entered new territory last weekend and has reached round two directly by two victories in front of their home crowd!

For the first time in its club history, ASV Grünwettersbach competed on an international stage, playing the first group stage itself in the table tennis center. The opponents of the TTBL club were Club Burgos TDM (Spain) and SK Vydrani (Slovakia).

Matchwinner became Deni Kozul, who left the table as winner in all his three singles. In the first match against Club Burgos TDM on Saturday, he won the first game of the day directly and when they were trailing 1:2, he also scored the important point to equalize 2:2.  In the decisive fifth match against Berzosa, Rafael Turrini got the final point.

Also in the second match on Sunday Deni Kozul made a good start with a win against Zoltan Lelkes. Aljaz Godec and Rafael Turrini also won their singles, so that the match against SK Vydrani was won with 3:0.

Deni Kozul on the opening match on international soil: "It was good to play two matches at home in the ETTU Cup. We had the goal to get to the second round and we did it in a good atmosphere, everyone fought. I'm glad I could help the team with my wins and also with the performance of our youngsters we deserve to be in the second round."

The next round of the Europe Cup will be drawn next Wednesday. Eliminated teams from the first stage of the Champions League will join them there.
