Düsseldorf wins - Mühlhausen remains bottom of the table

Borussia Düsseldorf made a strong statement in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) with a convincing 3:0 victory over Post SV Mühlhausen. The record-breaking champions, whose performances have fluctuated of late, thus returned to winning ways and consolidated their claim to the play-offs. For Mühlhausen, on the other hand, the defeat was another setback.

Dang Qui opens against Bertrand

Düsseldorf's Dang Qui got things underway against Irvin Bertrand. Qui made it clear early on that he was determined to win this match for Düsseldorf. He took the first set with a clear 11:3, but Bertrand got into the game in the second set and surprised with an 11:4. Despite the small setback, Dang Qui kept his nerve and dominated the following sets with 11:7 and 11:8, giving Düsseldorf a 1:0 lead.

Anton Källberg shines against Ionescu

Anton Källberg gave Ovidiu Ionescu little chance in the second match and won clearly with 3:0. Källberg won the sets three times with 11:5 and thus once again showed his current impressive form. Källberg's clear victory increased the lead to 2:0.

Timo Boll sets the final point against Mengel

Timo Boll, who is gradually regaining his old strength after some health setbacks during the season, set the final point against Steffen Mengel with 3:1. Boll was able to equalize a 4:8 set deficit directly in the first set and thus start the match successfully. He ended the evening with an 11:4 in the fourth set and secured Düsseldorf the 3:0 overall victory (11:9, 9:11, 11:8 11:4).

After the convincing team win, Anton Källberg was satisfied: “All three of us played very well today, and I'm particularly pleased that Timo showed himself to be very strong again today. Every game is hugely important for us. In recent years, we've always been pretty sure of reaching the play-offs and now we have to give 100 percent in every game. All the teams have become stronger and that makes it particularly exciting.”

This victory could be the starting signal for a new run of success for Borussia, who need every point to secure a play-off place in the face of strong competition in the league. Mühlhausen, on the other hand, remain bottom of the table after this defeat and will have to continue fighting for every point
