Dusseldorf struggles to win against Neu-Ulm
It was no walk in the park that Borussia Düsseldorf had to take on the way to a 3:1 victory over TTC Neu-Ulm in the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL). Anton Källberg in particular had his hands full. In the end, however, the record champion prevailed.
The young Russians Lev Katsman, Maksim Grebnev and Vladimir Sidorenko of the TTC Neu-Ulm showed a fighting performance in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) against Borussia Düsseldorf. Katsman already had the first surprise on his racket right at the beginning. He was leading 2:1 against Anton Källberg, but Källberg was able to improve and show Katsman the limits with 11:5 and 11:5.
Maksim Grebnev did better afterwards. He defeated Kay Stumper in three rounds and kept Neu-Ulm in the match. It went on just as clearly after the break - but then for Düsseldorf. Dang Qiu won against Vladimir Sidorenko with 11:6, 11:9 and 11:6.
Källberg twice in the fifth set
So it was Källberg and Grebnev who had to step into the box again. Grebnev with a clear win against Stumper behind him, Källberg with a hard-earned success against Katsman. And also the direct duel of the two was anything but clear. Again Källberg was trailing 1:2 in the sets, but again he managed to get out of the situation and win again.
The 21st match day continues already on Tuesday. Neu-Ulm has already brought forward its match of this matchday and won 3:1 against Werder Bremen. Düsseldorf has a longer break. They travel to ASV Grünwettersbach in a week on Thursday.
