Düsseldorf settles open score in Grenzau
On the second matchday of the new season, Borussia Düsseldorf wins against TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau with a clear 3:0 and thus settles the open score from last season.
After the guests from Düsseldorf had lost twice to TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau last season, they still had a score to settle with Grenzau and naturally wanted to take two points home this time.
Kay Stumper puts Düsseldorf in the lead
In the first match of the day, Maciej Kubik and Kay Stumper faced each other. The young Pole started the match better and won the first set, but then he was defeated by a strong Kay Stumper, who dominated the match from then on and won 3:1.
No set loss for Dang Qiu and Timo Boll
With self-confidence from the first match day, both Patrick Baum and Dang Qiu went to the table in the following second singles match. Unlike last week against Bastian Steger, however, Patrick Baum could not determine the match. The player from Düsseldorf won confidently with 3:0 and brought his team with 2:0 into the lead at the break.
After the break it came to the match between Feng Yi-Hsin and Timo Boll. The individual sets were all close, but Timo Boll won 3:0 without losing a set and thus achieved his first singles success this season, after narrowly losing to Can Akkuzu last week. Thus Borussia Düsseldorf could make up for the two slip-ups against Grenzau from last season and start the new season with two victories.
