Düsseldorf extends contract with head coach Danny Heister at an early stage

Borussia Düsseldorf has extended the contract of Dutchman Danny Heister, which expires on June 30, 2023, by three years at an early stage. The head coach has been responsible for the club's sporting affairs since 2010, during which time he has played a key role in the record champion's success with an impressive 21 titles.

Since he took office 12 years ago, Borussia Düsseldorf has won eight cup championships, nine German championships, a victory in the ETTU Cup and three Champions League titles with the 50-year-old. Particularly noteworthy are the two triple wins in 2011 and 2018, in which the club won the Champions League, the German Championship and the German Cup.

In addition to the titles, Heister is also known for developing outstanding young players. These include the now top national and international players Kay Stumper, Anton Källberg and Dang Qiu. In addition to titles such as the reigning European Champion, Qiu and Källberg have already established themselves among the world's top players. And 19-year-old Kay Stumper is also on his way there. So it's not surprising that Borussia manager Andreas Preuß wants to tie the Dutchman to the club for the long term.

"I feel incredibly comfortable here. I enjoy working with the guys enormously, the environment is great, the conditions and the structures are absolutely professional. My philosophy has always been to think long-term and build something. I now get this opportunity with my team and I am very grateful for that," explains Danny Heister on the club's own homepage.

Andreas Preuß also comments on the early contract extension on the website: "Dang and Anton have risen to the circle of the best because of him, but they have the potential to become even better, and Kay is at the very beginning of his career and should be built up to become a permanent fixture in the Bundesliga and on the World Tour. We have confidence in him that he is the right person to shape the years ahead."
