Draw for Cup quarter-finals: Record Cup winner Düsseldorf receives Bad Königshofen, Saarbrücken meets Bremen
Only one match separates the teams in the German Table Tennis Cup from the Liebherr Cup Final Four. On the way there, record cup winner Borussia Düsseldorf will face TSV Bad Königshofen in the quarterfinals and 1. FC Saarbrücken TT will receive SV Werder Bremen. The other matches are TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau against TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen and ASV Grünwettersbach against Post SV Mühlhausen.
The German champion and record cup winner Borussia Düsseldorf has also set its sights on more trophies for the current season. The way to the title in the German Table Tennis Cup leads Timo Boll, Dang Qiu and Co. in the quarterfinals in their own hall over TSV Bad Königshofen and Borussia would advance to the Liebherr Cup Final Four for the German Table Tennis Cup if they win. This was the result of the draw for the quarter-final matches on Wednesday in Fulda. 1. FC Saarbrücken TT also has a home match. The team led by German international Patrick Franziska will face SV Werder Bremen in front of their home crowd.
Post SV Mühlhausen, on the other hand, will have to play away from home: The Thuringians will duel with the cup winners from 2020 ASV Grünwettersbach in the quarterfinals of the German Table Tennis Cup. Both teams are currently table neighbors in the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL) and were both defeated in last year's Cup quarterfinals. This year, the direct duel for one of the two clubs will lead to the Liebherr Cup Final Four. The two teams from TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau and TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen also have this path in mind. Both teams already faced each other in last year's Cup quarter-finals and at that time the Ochsenhausen team kept the upper hand in the home match. This year, TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau will be playing in front of their home crowd and will be looking to punch their ticket to the Liebherr Cup Final Four.
The quarterfinal matches will be scheduled as soon as possible. The Liebherr Cup Final Four will be played at the ratiopharm arena Ulm/Neu-Ulm in early January 2024. All quarterfinal matches and all games of the Liebherr Cup Final Four can be seen live on Dyn.
