Cup round of sixteen 2023/24 drawn

Three TTBL-internal duels, four encounters of second or third league teams against teams from the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) and a bye. This was the result of the draw for the Cup Round of 16 in Fulda. The matches will be played during September until October 3 and the respective winners will reach the Cup quarter-finals.

Not only the 2023/24 season in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) is casting its shadows ahead, but also the German Table Tennis Cup is picking up speed again: In the course of September and until October 3, the round of 16 matches will be played and the 15 qualified teams hope to take the first step towards the Final Four tournament, where the title will be decided in January 2024.

The draw in Fulda has revealed that 1. FC Saarbrücken TT will face a second or third division team away from home in the Cup Round of 16. Which opponent this will be will be decided on August 27 in the matches of Cup Preliminary Round Group 1, in which SV Velbert I, BV Borussia Dortmund, TTC OE Bad Homburg and TTC Altena will face each other. The winner of the matches in the mode "everyone against everyone" will then meet the 1st FC Saarbrücken TT in the cup round of 16 home match.

An internal TTBL duel awaits the TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen: the Upper Swabians start the Cup with the match against 1.FSV Mainz 05 and hope to participate in the Cup Final Four event again in the new season. As last season's cup finalist, Borussia Düsseldorf, due to the non-application of the playing license of the title winner TTC Neu-Ulm and the resulting reduction to eleven TTBL clubs in the 2023/24 season, will receive a bye in the round of 16.

And two more TTBL-internal matches await the fans in the round of 16: While TSV Bad Königshofen receives TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt, TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell plays Werder Bremen. The other three winners of the preliminary groups can look forward to highlight matches as they face TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau, ASV Grünwettersbach and Post SV Mühlhausen.
