Countdown to the title: The Liebherr Cup Final Four is 25 days away

Countdown to the title: The Liebherr Cup Final Four is 25 days away

The first title of the year will be awarded in just over three weeks: The four best teams of the cup season will meet in the Liebherr Cup Final Four on January 4 and battle for the trophy in the ratiopharm arena Ulm/Neu-Ulm. Tickets for the top event are still available.

It will be a rendezvous of superstars when the Liebherr Cup Final Four takes place in the twin city on the Danube on January 4: Hugo Calderano and Simon Gauzy will be there, as will Patrick Franziska and Darko Jorgic as well as Mattias Falck, Kirill Gerassimenko and Kristian Karlsson. All fans can therefore look forward to three highly exciting matches - and an impressive atmosphere. In each of the last two years, around 5,000 spectators joined in the excitement and ensured a sold-out ratiopharm arena. If you want to be there on January 4, you should secure your ticket now. Tickets start at just 14 euros and are available in our ticket store.

The Liebherr Cup Final Four will begin with the search for the finalists: The semi-finals will be played in parallel on two tables from 11 am. TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen and TTC OE Bad Homburg as well as SV Werder Bremen and 1. FC Saarbrücken TT will then meet. After a short changeover break, there will then be a big showdown for the title and the German Cup winner 2025 will be determined.

Local hero Ochsenhausen aims for fifth cup win

As things stand today, 1. FC Saarbrücken TT has excellent chances of winning the title. FCS has taken part in the Liebherr Cup Final Four four times in the past five years and has reached the final twice. Last January, they lost 3-0 to perennial rivals Borussia Düsseldorf. Saarbrücken have won the cup twice so far (2012, 2022) - title number three for Franziska and Co. should follow in a few weeks' time. However, Werder Bremen will be a tough nut to crack in the semi-finals for the Saarlanders: The Bremen team has established itself in the top group of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), defeated FCS 3:2 in the TTBL first leg and already ended the title dreams of TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell in the cup quarter-finals. Werder last reached the cup final in 2019, when they lost to TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen.

This very final, Bremen against Ochsenhausen, could take place again on January 4. In addition to a Werder coup against FCS, this would require a TTF victory in the parallel match against Bad Homburg. Tischtennisfreunde have already lifted the trophy four times, three times in a row from 2002 to 2004 before 2019. The local team also reached the final in 2020 and 2021, and Calderano, Gauzy and Co. are aiming for a fifth title at their next attempt. TTC OE Bad Homburg is taking part in the Liebherr Cup Final Four for the first time. With 3:2 victories at TTC Lampertheim and TSV Bad Königshofen, Kristian Karlsson's team from Hesse secured a place in the semi-finals for the first time, and now they want to surprise again against Ochsenhausen.
