Competitive match: Grünwettersbach defeats Bergneustadt
Three of the four singles went over the full distance of five sets. In the end, the ASV Grünwettersbach had the stronger nerves and decided the last duel of the 6. Match day of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) for itself.
Romain Ruiz started against Xi Wang like the fire brigade. After 7:1 lead, he won the first set with 11:5. But in clarity, the Monday evening match in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) between the ASV Grünwettersbach and the TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt should not develop further. Wang compensated in the second set and fended off six set balls of his opponent in the third round before using his first of his own for 2:1 set lead. But Ruiz fought back, won the singles in the fifth set and scored the first point for Bergneustadt.
However, it should remain the last one at the same time. The second single between Tiago Apolonia and Benedikt Duda swelled back and forth. While Duda confidently secured the first set, Apolonia certainly won the sets two and three. In the fourth round, the Portuguese awarded three match balls after 7:2 lead, but in the fifth set he made it better and compensated for ASV Grünwettersbach.
Ricardo Walther dominates his singles
In position three, the only clear single followed that evening. Ricardo Walther dominated the duel against Omar Assar and did not let the Egyptian find his game. In three sets, he won his first single for the ASV this season and put his team in the lead with 2:1. "I'm glad that the knot has finally burst," he showed himself relieved after the end of the game. With Xi Wang and Benedikt Duda, the two players met in the fourth individual, who were previously unhappy in five sets, and this encounter also found its winner only in the decisive set. Duda did not take his 2:1 set lead to lead his team into the final doubles after all. Wang won the fourth set just by 11:9 and also had the luck on his side in the last round.
With the 3:1 success against the guests from Bergneustadt, the Grünwettersbacher celebrate their third victory of the season. In the table, they pass the TTC. We continue with the 7th. Matchday already next weekend. The ASV Grünwettersbach will compete at the Post SV Mühlhausen on Saturday, while the TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt on Sunday the 1st. FC Saarbrücken receives.
