Clear thing for Bergneustadt

Clear thing for Bergneustadt

On the 16th matchday of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt got two important points in the fight to stay in the league. Benedikt Duda and Co. defeated ASV Grünwettersbach in their own hall clearly with 3:0.

The constellation before the match was clear: TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt urgently needed a win against ASV Grünwettersbach in order not to lose further ground to their direct rivals in the fight against relegation. And the hosts knew from the beginning how to use this pressure positively for themselves. The decisive first singles match between Romain Ruiz and Deni Kozul was a back-and-forth affair for five sets before the Frenchman finally won the match. The can opener for the hosts. Both Benedikt Duda and Omar Assar made the most of the lead and did not drop another set in their singles matches, although Duda had to go into extra time in two straight sets against Tiago Apolonia.

Comments on the match

Benedikt Duda, TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt: "Our plan to put me on position two today worked out perfectly. It was a really good day for us. But there is still a long way to go to stay in the class. We now want to score more points in February."
