Clear results in the cup - five times 3:0

Five matches were scheduled in the round of 16 of the German Table Tennis Cup. Eight teams from the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL) competed, two teams came from the 2nd Bundesliga. The fact that the two second-league teams each lost 3-0 is no surprise, but the fact that all three matches between the Bundesliga teams also ended 3-0 was not to be expected.

There was little to be gained for SV Werder Bremen in their home match against TTC Neu-Ulm. Only the first match between Bremen's Mattias Falck and Neu-Ulm's Vladimir Sidorenko was a hard-fought affair that went over five sets. Sidorenko finally kept the upper hand and put Neu-Ulm in the lead 1:0. The matches of Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Truls Moregardh, on the other hand, were a clear-cut affair for Neu-Ulm, each winning in three sets and taking their team into the quarter-finals of the cup.

TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau without problems

The guest game at the second league team TTC indeland Jülich was over quickly for TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau. The ninth-placed team in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) prevailed confidently 3-0, with Maciej Kubik and Yi-Hsin Feng each winning their matches in quick-fire 3-0 sets. Patrick Baum needed a fourth set, but ensured Grenzau's victory with his 3:1 against Robin Devos.

1.FC Saarbrücken TT wins more clearly than expected

That was clearer than expected. In the duel of the two Bundesdesligisten 1. FC Saarbrücken TT and TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt the Saarlanders clearly kept the upper hand. In the table of the table tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) both teams are separated by only three places - Saarbrücken is third, the Bergneustadt team is sixth. Nevertheless, the 3:0 victory of the Saarlanders revealed a difference in class, as Darko Jorgic, Patrick Franziska and Cedric Nuytinck each dispatched their opponents 3:0 - although Bergneustadt started with Roman Ruiz, Benedikt Duda and Omar Assar.

TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen successful for the second time

On the second matchday of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) at the beginning of September, both teams already met, and at that time the TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen kept the upper hand over TSV Bad Königshofen with 3:1. This time, too, the Upper Swabians remained successful, even more clearly than three weeks ago. Kanak Jha and Simon Gauzy each won the first two matches 3:0 and made sure that Alvaro Robles could easily start his match against Filip Zeljko. However, the third singles match was hard-fought and Robles needed five sets to secure the third point and thus the victory for Ochsenhausen.

TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell doesn't show any weaknesses

The duel of the second league team TTC Fortuna Passau against the last team in the table tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell, was a clear affair. The first division team from East Hesse won the match 3:0 after 80 minutes. Alexandre Cassin was the only player to drop a set, while Quadri Aruna and Fanbo Meng each won in three sets. So the Fulda team can still win and will take self-confidence from this cup victory for the future matches in the TTBL.

Grünwettersbach and Mainz play for last quarterfinal ticket

The first two quarterfinal tickets were already secured almost a week ago by Post SV Mühlhausen (3-0 at 1. FC Köln) and on Thursday evening by Borussia Düsseldorf (3-0 at TV 1879 Hilpoltstein). The last round of 16 will be contested by ASV Grünwettersbach and 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday, September 24, at 7 pm.
