The 22-year-old Romanian national player Rares Sipos moves from the current leader of the 2nd division (TTC Bad Homburg 1987) for the new season 2023/24 and strengthens the Bundesliga team of Mainz. The explosive right-hander has been with Bad Homburg for five years and, in addition to two years of TTBL experience, has already been able to collect victories against well-known opponents such as Falck, Gauzy and Habesohn in his career.

Last season he played a 7:16 record in the TTBL and currently he can boast a 9:5 record in the 2. league.

"With Rares we get an absolute desired player. Despite his young age, he has already been able to beat world-class players and brings a high maximum. In addition, he is an excellent doubles player. We are sure that we can help Rares to take the next step in his young career. Rares brings everything to become an absolute crowd favorite in Mainz," says Tomasz Kasica (sporting director of 1. FSV Mainz 05).

Rares Sipos on his move: "I had five fantastic years in Bad Homburg and am grateful to everyone who helped me develop there. Now the time has come for me for a new challenge and I hope I can help Mainz to get as many wins as possible. I can't wait to be back in the TTBL and I'm very happy to play for Mainz 05."

In return, Andrei Putuntica will leave the club and join the future second division team from Velbert.
