Bremen also defeats Grünwettersbach
Following victories over Saarbrücken and Grünwettersbach, SV Werder Bremen is now firmly established at the top of the table. Today's opponents from the Karlsruhe district were defeated surprisingly clearly by the Hanseatic side 3:0. ASV were unable to win more than one set per game and lost ground on the play-off places with their second defeat in a row.
There was a change in the line-up for both teams compared to the last match of the season. Ricardo Walther returned for Timothy Falconnier. For Bremen, Paraguayan Marcelo Aguirre rotated into the team. But even with Ricardo Walther, SV Werder were too strong for the team from Baden today.
Gerassimenko and Falck put Werder on course
ASV Grünwettersbach found themselves with their backs to the wall after the first two games. Against TSV Bad Königshofen, Kozul made sure that the team got back on track. However, today's three-pointer and unlucky player from the Königshofen game, Tiago Apolonia, was not to succeed. He also lost his match in four sets (7:11, 9:11, 11:9, 5:11).
Before the TTBL rests over the Christmas holidays, the last first-round matchday is still to come. SV Werder Bremen can continue to underpin its third place in the table with a win. However, this will not be easy, as their opponents are TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt, who recently celebrated surprising victories over Ochsenhausen (3:2) and Mühlhausen (3:0). ASV Grünwettersbach will have to make sure that the gap to the top does not get too big in the away match in Grenzau.
Comments on the game:
Kiril Gerassimenko (SV Werder Bremen): "Of course it was great for us to win. We knew that it wouldn't be easy against Grünwettersbach, they have good players. I wish Wang Xi a speedy recovery."
Ricardo Walther (ASV Grünwettersbach): "In the end, the 0:3 was well deserved. We simply weren't good enough in all three games today. We took one set in each game, but the performance was lacking. We have to apologize to the fans today."
