Borussia Düsseldorf safe in the semi-finals

The record champions beat Werder Bremen in the catch-up match and qualify for the play-offs.

Record champions Borussia Düsseldorf are the first team in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) to qualify for the semi-finals. The defending champions won their catch-up match against Werder Bremen 3:2 and can therefore no longer be displaced from the play-off places with three match days remaining in the main round and an eight-point lead in fifth place.

Veteran Timo Boll (43) won the first game and then had to watch as Kay Stumper, Anton Källberg and Borgar Haug almost squandered the lead. In the end, however, Boll can still hope for a successful farewell from the Bundesliga, where the final will take place on June 15 in Frankfurt.

The next match for Düsseldorf is already scheduled for Saturday: On matchday 20, the league leaders will host second-placed TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen in the top match.
