Borussia Düsseldorf extends contract with Borgar Haug
Norway's young talent Borgar Haug remains a Borussian. The club has extended his contract by one year until June 30, 2025. As number five in the team, the three-time individual champion from his country will continue to relieve the quartet of Timo Boll, Dang Qiu, Anton Källberg and Kay Stumper.
The 21-year-old left-hander has integrated well into the team and also supports the team when he is not at the table. So far, he has made nine appearances for Borussia Düsseldorf and even went undefeated in the Champions League.
"I'm delighted that Borgar is staying in the team," said Head Coach Danny Heister. "It's a good working relationship and he's also improved since he's been here. He's a hard worker, very eager to learn. He has also done better at WTT tournaments recently and progressed a little further." Heister is certain that Haug can continue to develop and become even stronger.
Manager Andreas Preuß is also convinced of this. "He has fitted in wonderfully with the team. He lives and trains here and identifies completely with the club."
When Borussia signed the Norwegian international, he was ranked 295th in the world. Since then, he has improved by around 100 positions and played his way up to 198th place (31.10.2023) and is currently ranked 203rd in the world.
"I'm very happy that I was able to sign for another year," explains the Oslo native. "I've already learned a lot here and I know I'll learn a lot more from the team and the club. I feel very comfortable in the team and I'm still a bit excited about what the future will bring."
