Bergneustadt celebrates home win against Bad Königshofen

In its last home match of this season in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt celebrated another victory. On Tuesday, there was a 3:1 against TSV Bad Königshofen.

TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt is heading for a conciliatory end to the season in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL). On Tuesday evening, the team around Benedikt Duda won 3:1 against TSV Bad Königshofen and thus consolidated the tenth place in the table in the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL). With now 16:26 points Bergneustadt is two points ahead of TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell, who will play at 1. FSV Mainz 05 on April 1. Bad Königshofen, on the other hand, conceded its third defeat in a row and missed a return to fifth place. With 20:22 points, TSV remains in sixth place. The play-off places were already out of reach for Bad Königshofen since the 3-0 defeat in Saarbrücken last Sunday.

Matchwinner on Bergneustadt's side was Alberto Mino, who gave himself a farewell present. The Ecuadorian leaves Bergneustadt at the end of the season after four years together and made his last appearance on Tuesday. Mino celebrated a 3:1 (11:6, 11:7, 9:11, 13:11) victory against Bastian Steger, taking revenge for the 0:3 in the first leg and also celebrating his first singles win of the season. "It wasn't an easy season for me - matches like this give me new confidence," Mino said in an interview with Spontent.

Duda makes everything clear against Steger

For Bergneustadt, Mino's victory was also the crux of the evening. Filip Zeljko had decided the opening singles 3:2 (11:9, 11:8, 8:11, 7:11, 11:8) against Benedikt Duda in favor of the guests. The TTC took the lead for the first time with Omar Assar's 3:1 (9:11, 11:9, 12:10, 11:7) against Martin Allegro, before Duda made everything clear. The world No. 36 showed good recovery from his defeat against Zeljko and won 3:0 (11:7, 11:6, 11:8) against Steger. "Congratulations to Bergneustadt," said Bad Königshofens Kilian Ort afterwards. "Basti unfortunately didn't have his best day. I think the points deservedly stay in Bergneustadt."

Both teams will play their last match of the season on April 30: On the last main round match day, TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt will play at 1. FSV Mainz 05, while TSV Bad Königshofen will receive Post SV Mühlhausen.
