Shooting star Annett Kaufmann (Kolbermoor) and European Championship runner-up Benedikt Duda (Bergneustadt) are “Germany's Table Tennis Player of the Year 2024”. According to the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB), the junior world champion and Olympic discovery and the top 20 player each won the online vote for the first time by clear margins.

Kaufmann, who also came out on top in the “young talent” category for the sixth time, relegated Düsseldorf Paralympics winner Sandra Mikolaschek (11.2 percent) to second place with 84.9 percent of the votes thanks to her surprisingly successful transition to the professional ranks. Former European Championship silver medalist Nina Mittelham (Berlin) only needed 1.5 percent to take third place.

Duda, who like Kaufmann also won the DM singles title last summer, was ahead of top 10 ace Patrick Franziska (Saarbrücken) with 41%. German idol Timo Boll (Düsseldorf) came third with 18.6 percent of the vote after his international retirement at the Olympic tournament in Paris.
