Bad Königshofen wins relegation duel
A duel that swung back and 4th. In the end, Kilian Ort and Bastian Steger led TSV Bad Königshofen to an important success against TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL).
For the 3rd time, Bad Königshofen competed with its top Japanese player Yukiya Uda in the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL). But Uda is not yet getting into the swing of things. Both against Benedikt Duda and Romain Ruiz from TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt, the Japanese player lost 1:3.
So it was up to Bastian Steger and homegrown Kilian Ort to prevent a defeat. After Uda's defeat, Ort clearly won the 1st set against Romain Ruiz 11:3. But the Frenchman hit back and took a 2-1 lead in his turn. Again, the match took a turn and Ort equalized at 1-1.
Steger leads Bad Könishofen on the road to victory
In the important 3rd singles match, Bastian Steger and Alberto Mino met. Mino is still waiting for his 1st win in four matches this season. In the end, he had no chance against Bastian Steger. Steger won 3:0 and gave TSV the 2-1 lead.
Uda could not score the 1st match point. The doubles brought the decision. Steger and Ort met Duda and Mino. Twice the Bergneustadt duo took the lead, twice Steger and Ort equalized. In the 5th set, it was the team from Lower Franconia that put the stamp on the match. Up to 5:5, the decisive set was even. But then Steger and Ort pulled away with six points in series game-deciding.
The TTBL continues next weekend. Bad Königshofen will play in Fulda on Saturday, Bergneustadt in Mühlhausen on Sunday.
