Bad Königshofen loses thriller in duel for the play-offs
Once again it was doubles for TSV Bad Königshofen in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL). In seven doubles matches, they have been able to prevail six times so far. But on the 14th match day, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen kept the upper hand. In the key match for the play-off places they got two important points with this 3:2 success.
Kilian Ort continues where he left off last week. He was the match-winner in the 3:2 surprise win against Borussia Düsseldorf. And also in the duel of the two play-off candidates TSV Bad Königshofen and TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen in the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL) he won both his singles with 3:1.
Against Samuel Kulczycki, the third set was decisive for the match. At the intermediate score of 1:1, he was leading 6:1, but he threatened to give away this safe lead once again. In the end he won the set with 13:11. In the fourth set, he didn't let anything happen and rushed to 11:3. A little later, he defeated the Frenchman Simon Gauzy with the same result and thus brought his team into the final double.
Bastian Steger loses twice unluckily in the fifth set
Before Filip Zeljko Gauzy had to admit defeat with 0:3. It was the equalizer to the 1:1 intermediate score. Bastian Steger then lost in five sets against Alvaro Robles. Despite being down 0:2 in the first set, he played his way back into the match. In the decisive set, however, he fell behind early with 1:5.
In the doubles alongside Martin Allegro, things were hardly any better for Steger. Against Alvaro Robles and Samuel Kulczycki they started furiously and won the first set with 11:5 and the third with 11:6. But twice Robles/Kulczycki could equalize. In the decisive fifth set, it was the guests from Ochsenhausen who ignited the turbo at the 4:4 intermediate score and rushed to victory with 11:5. With this important victory, the Ochsenhausen team consolidated its third place in the table, while Bad Königshofen continues to lurk in fifth place.
All six games of the 14th matchday will take place this Sunday. Matchday 15 begins next Friday with TSV Bad Königshofen playing away at SV Werder Bremen.
