Bad Königshofen gathers important points

TSV Bad Königshofen is still on course for the play-offs. On the 18th matchday of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), they beat TTC Neu-Ulm 3:1. Filip Zeljko led the Lower Franconians to a 3:1 overall victory with two singles wins, while Neu-Ulm caused a surprise with their own lineup.

The fact that TTC Neu-Ulm competes in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) with its three young Russians is no surprise. However, the guests put Vladimir Sidorenko, their best player, at position three and Lev Katsam, who has not been very successful this season, at the top position.

In view of the line-up, the first singles match between Filip Zeljko and Maksim Grebnev thus had an almost pre-decisive significance. Although Grebnev was able to impressively equalize a first close advance by Zeljko, the Croatian again won the next two sets by a narrow margin. Bastian Steger then followed up with a 3:0 win against Katsman. In sets one and three, Katsman was able to catch up despite trailing by a large margin, but he was unable to turn the match around. Steger managed to do so in set two, when he turned a 3:6 deficit into an 11:8 set win.

Martin Allegro still winless

The roles were clearly distributed in the third duel. While Martin Allegro is still waiting for his first victory in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), Vladimir Sidorenko is the strongest Russian in Neu-Ulm. In the first set, however, Allegro prevailed narrowly with 14:12. The following sets, however, were won by the favorite. The match winner was Filip Zeljko, who also won his second singles match. Katsman could shorten after 0:2 set back once again, the turn succeeded to him however no more.

With this victory, the team from Lower Franconia keeps the contact to the play-off places. They are level on points with fourth-placed Post SV Mühlhausen, who will play their match of Matchday 18 against 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Sunday and can therefore still gain a two-point lead. Before that, SV Werder Bremen and TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt will open the next matchday on Thursday. All matches of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) will be broadcasted live on the channels of Spontent on Twitch.
