ANOTHER DEFEAT: BERGNEUSTADT LOSES DUE TO LACK OF REPLACEMENTS

Borussia Düsseldorf beat TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt on match day 5 of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) in quick succession. Bergneustadt once again had to do without an important player.

In just one and a half hours, record champions Borussia Düsseldorf prevailed against TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt, who are currently seventh in the table in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL). Borussia only conceded one set win to the visitors. However, as in the previous week, they were playing with a substitute player.

Although Romain Ruiz traveled to the Rhineland, he was once again unable to play and only sat on the bench. He was replaced by coach Frederik Duda, brother of Benedikt Duda. The Bundesliga player was the clear underdog against Anton Källberg. The Swede lived up to his role as favorite with a concentrated performance and only conceded a total of eight points to Duda after trailing 2:4 in the first set.

Dang Qiu wins duel between the German national players

Dang Qiu increased his lead to 2:0 against Benedikt Duda before the break. Qiu initially seemed to overrun Duda, winning each of the first two sets by a clear 11:4, before Duda fought his way back into the match. The left-hander reduced the deficit to 1:2 with an equally clear 11:4. The fourth set was the most competitive of the entire match. Qiu turned a 3:6 deficit into a 9:7 lead and shortly afterwards used his third match point to make it 12:10. "The match was on a knife's edge and we already had one foot in the fifth set," said a relieved Dang Qiu after the match.

After the break, Kay Stumper decided the match. He won 3:0 against Adrien Rassenfosse and thus kept his team at the top of the table at least until Sunday afternoon. "It's always important to have a good start to the season so that you have a bit of breathing space at the end when things get stressful with the cup and Champions League," said a satisfied Qiu. On Sunday, October 1, 1. FC Saarbrücken can regain top spot in the table with a win against Post SV Mühlhausen.

All matches will be broadcast live on Dyn.
